We Knew ‘em When…

Some of this month’s artists have been listed before. They are highlighted again for those who are new to this newsletter and will be performing live in nearby venues.

Jackie Venson

I run out of words before I can finish telling you how muh I enjoy listening to Jackie. She is everything this page is dedicated to. Shhe is an underappreciated singer, songwriter and guitar player and extraordinaire is not hyperbole. The hottest thing to come out of Texas in a very long time. Give her listen and plan on seeing her in Milwaukee at the Vivarium on Saturday May 24th.

Meshell Ndegeocello

Meshell Ndegeocello is an American singer-songwriter and will be at the Vivarium in Milwaukee January 27th. She is jazzy and bluesy, something I suspect Sandy will enjoy. Yes, I’m talking to you, Jim. known for her eclectic fusion of genres, including R&B, jazz, funk, and hip-hop. Born in Berlin, Germany, she later moved to the United States, where her musical journey began. Ndegeocello gained prominence in the early 1990s with her debut album, "Plantation Lullabies," which showcased her unique voice, introspective lyrics, and innovative approach to bass playing.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with a wide spectrum of artists, from Prince and Madonna to Maxwell and the late Leonard Cohen.
